Usagi says: "The masked pretty soldier of love and justice, Sailor V! Back before there even was a Sailor Moon, the mysterious and gorgeous Sailor V was battling the forces of the Dark Agency with the help of her talking cat, Artemis. I was always reading Sailor V manga, watching Sailor V movies, playing Sailor V videogames... Well, anyway, imagine my surprise when one day, Sailor V herself jumped into one of our fights and asked to join the Inner Senshi! It turns out that the V in her name is short for Venus, and she'd been looking for the rest of us all along. Now she's one of my best friends, and she's the coolest! Minako's a bit clumsy sometimes (like me), and she doesn't always do great in school, either, but she's always happy and ready to have fun! Before she got so busy as a Sailor Senshi, Minako was the captain of her school's volleyball team, and she also won first place in a school-wide track-and-field meet. She also loves to sing -especially karaoke- and can speak very good English. In fact, she went to England as part of an exchange program a few years ago, which is where Sailor V is believed to have died fighting the forces of the Dark Agency. We're the only people who actually know that Sailor Venus and Sailor V are the same person: good old Minako! All in all, she's just a normal, well-rounded girl who happens to fight evil in her spare time..."

As Sailor V(enus), Minako possesses several unique abilities. Her Crescent Moon Compact allows her to change her form into any other identity she wishes, and, like all of the Sailor Senshi, she has enhanced strangth, speed, and reflexes when transformed. If not the most powerful of the Senshi, she is easily the most versatile: Minako has found or created literally dozens of different attacks for dealing with the enemy. She has a flair for the dramatic, and can sometimes give speeches that Tuxedo Kamen would be proud of. Minako especially likes to quote famous novels or people, but she rarely gets her quotations straight.

Minako Aino is the Sailor Senshi of the planet Venus. In Roman mythology, Venus was the goddess of love and beauty, and it should be noted that Minako uses the kanji for the goddess, not the planet, in her name. The first of all the girls to discover her powers, and the only one who has ever battled solo for any length of time, Sailor Venus still has a bad habit of running off by herself to face enemies, instead of relying on her team for support. It should also be noted that Sailor Venus, not Sailor Moon, is the official leader of the Inner Senshi.

Minako Aino's japanese voice actor, or seiyuu, was Rica Fukami. Fukami is also known for her roles in other popular anime, such as Riara in Record Of Lodoss War, Daigo Hayami in The New Cutey Honey, Helen Jackson in V Gundam, Momoko in Dirty Pair, and Myung Fang Lone in Macross Plus.

In the Sailor Moon dub, "Mina Aino" has voiced by several different women. First was Stephanie Morgenstern, who voiced Sailor Venus in the Sailor Moon and Sailor Moon R seasons. Stephanie has also performed as Princess Lila in Smoggies, Violet in Baby Machines, Steffy in Birdz, Princess Flame in Blazing Dragons!, Tigerlily in Rupert The Bear, and Ayame in Power Stone.

In the Sailor Moon S season, the role of Sailor Venus fell to Emily Barlowe. She also provided the voice of Sailor Mars for the Sailor Moon R season.
